Williams Lake Active Transportation
The City of Williams Lake is developing an Active Transportation Network Plan to create a complete and comfortable active transportation network for people of all ages and abilities, making it easier and safer to get around by walking, cycling and rolling.
The Fraser Basin Council, along with Urban Systems, is pleased to provide support to this project.
Active transportation plays an important role in enhancing a community’s health, environment, and quality of life, ensuring community members can connect to destinations safely by walking, cycling, and rolling.
The City of Williams Lake began work in 2024 to create an Active Transportation Network Plan, in collaboration with community members and with support from the Fraser Basin Council and Urban Systems through grant funding. The plan is intended to unlock access to funding programs and cost-sharing opportunities that will help advance active transportation.
Developed over four phases, the plan will be completed by Spring 2025. Throughout the planning process, there are opportunities for community members to participate and provide input. These include:
The planning project will benefit from the formation of a Williams Lake Active Transportation Working Group, which the Fraser Basin Council supports through administration and facilitation services. The working group is a diverse group of area residents who are providing guidance to the City throughout the Active Transportation Network Planning process and over the longer term as the City begins to implement the plan and continues to develop active transportation priorities and infrastructure.
