In 2021-2022 the Fraser Basin Council and Richard Hall, an experienced Red Seal carpenter and builder of Nuxalk Nation, delivered “Train-the-Trainer: Building Indigenous Capacity for Energy Efficiency,” a project in partnership with the Aboriginal Housing Management Association and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Richard Hall of Nuxalk Nation has decades of years of experience in Indigenous housing as a Red Seal carpenter / builder, a capital project and housing manager, a housing consultant and building inspector. He is now designing affordable, sustainable and-efficient homes that complement the climates of British Columbia’s west coast and that suit the cultural lifestyles of First Peoples.

The First Nations Home EnergySave podcast was a special 12-part series to support BC First Nations in their work to provide people healthy, affordable and energy efficient housing. The podcast was developed in 2021 by the Fraser Basin Council and SES Consulting.

Host Darla Simpson and her colleagues share their experience and expertise on home energy topics and practical tips for Housing, Asset and Energy Managers to support their communities. The podcast covers energy-efficient technologies, energy management strategies and collaborative work with residents.
