The Fraser Basin Council (FBC) is a charitable non-profit society.

We bring people together to advance sustainability in British Columbia.

Our story stretches back some three decades when concerns for the health of the Fraser River, its watershed and its communities prompted steps for change. The Fraser Basin Council was founded in 1997 to tackle some of the pressing challenges, with a view to the future – and future generations.

Since 1997 the Fraser Basin Council has delivered hundreds of collaborative initiatives, both in the Basin and in communities throughout BC. Whether serving as a facilitator-convener, educator or program manager, we take a collaborative approach to our programs and projects on climate change, watersheds and water resources, and resilient communities.

We’re proud of the work we’ve been able to do, thanks to the commitment and innovation of so many communities and program partners over the years. It’s all about the power of collaboration!

The Fraser Basin Council’s Board of Directors come from all four orders of Canadian government in BC (Federal, Provincial, First Nations and Local), together with people from business, industry and communities and an independent Chair.

Our staff teams serve multiple program areas. Looking to connect with a staff member on a program or service?

We welcome general inquiries through our offices – in Vancouver, Kamloops, Williams Lake or Prince George –  and with our team members in other BC locations.

The Fraser Basin Council supports the Elizabeth Henry Scholarship for Communities and Environmental Health and the Chief Roy Mussell Bursary Fund, newly established in 2024.

Our program partners and other supporters make it possible to do what we do. We are always grateful for donations and legacy gifts. See how you can help.
